Rêve, a French tasting-menu restaurant, opening in Birmingham’s Pizitz Food Hall
Rêve: A Dream Culinary Experience Opens in Birmingham
Birmingham welcomes Rêve, a fine-dining tasting-menu restaurant, opening this Saturday, March 8, in the Pizitz Food Hall. Owned and operated by chef Jacob M. Stull, Rêve (meaning “dream” in French) realizes his aspiration to create a permanent tasting menu establishment after successful pop-up dinners in the city. Stull, who has a rich background in the culinary world, including stints at notable restaurants in New Orleans, aims to bring French classics to Birmingham, featuring dishes like steak au poivre and coq au vin.
The new restaurant occupies a 3,000-square-foot space designed to merge Parisian charm with an edgy Brooklyn vibe, showcasing preserved historical elements of the building. Rêve can seat 78 guests and includes a chef’s bar, private dining area, and outdoor seating. The interior artwork, commissioned from local artist Mandy Maples, enhances the restaurant’s ambiance by narrating Stull’s culinary journey.
As Birmingham’s first tasting-menu-centric restaurant, Rêve offers an innovative dining experience, with its opening week featuring a six-course menu priced at $150 per person. Highlights include La Gargouillou, a dish of spring vegetables served with a tableside broth, and a Black Forest torte for dessert. A 10-course tasting menu and a more casual à la carte option featuring brasserie staples will be introduced soon.
Rêve is located at 1821 Second Ave. North and will operate from 5 to 10 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday, with reservations recommended. Stull expresses excitement to integrate into Birmingham’s culinary community, emphasizing the city’s camaraderie.
